Technical Notes

  1. Tech Note A

    Working with input files

Load the tutorial's built-in examples, save your own circuits as entries, and download an input file to your device. Plus everything an entry remembers, so you can pick up where you left off.

  2. Tech Note B

Limiting the results to save time

A transient run returns every voltage, current and power in the circuit, and each one costs an inverse Laplace transform. Ask for only the answers you want and the wait gets shorter.

  3. Tech Note C

Underscores, and subscripts in your answers

An underscore does two jobs. In an answer's name it is optional, so ir1 and i_r1 mean the same current. In a symbolic value it is not: it puts what follows into a subscript, and makes an answer read the way a textbook prints it.

  4. Tech Note D

When a load is not the only thing attached

The load formulas assume a load and nothing else. When something more is connected to the equivalent, Symbulator will write the equivalent circuit into the input fields for you, ready to be added to.

  5. Tech Note E

    The SI prefixes Symbulator accepts

Every prefix Symbulator takes, from peta down to atto, with its shorthand and its factor — and the two places where case matters.

  6. Tech Note F

Every control in the Settings card

Rounding, the four Display ticks and the AC power convention, each with what it changes, what it does not, and why two of them appear only in AC.
